What is a filter press

A πρέσα φίλτρου is a tool for separating solids from liquids. It’s used a lot in industries like chemical, pharmaceutical, food, and environmental protection. It works by applying pressure. This makes the filtrate go through the filter medium, while the solid particles get caught on the filter medium.

A πρέσα φίλτρου usually has a filter plate, a filter frame, a filter cloth, and a hydraulic system. When it’s in operation, we put the material to be filtered in the filter frame. Then, we use the hydraulic system to apply pressure. This makes the filtrate flow out through the filter cloth, and the solids stay on the filter cloth, forming a filter cake.

Based on different operating methods, filter presses can be divided into manual filter presses, automatic filter presses, and other types.
